The same composition as the purple version — open sea, wave after wave, a layered horizon — but transformed by a different palette. The sky here is clear bright blue, the clouds grey, the sea ranging from deep navy to lighter blue as the waves catch the light. Where the purple version feels charged and dramatic, this one feels open and clear, like a fine day when the sea is at its most simply beautiful.
The two prints share the same carving. It is one of the things I find endlessly compelling about printmaking — the way colour alone can shift a mood entirely, so that the same marks on wood become two quite different works.
